Let G be a prolific graph, by which we mean finite connected simple graph is not isomorphic to cycle nor path the star K1,3. The line-graph of G, denoted L(G), defined having its vertex-set equal edge-set and two vertices L(G) are adjacent if corresponding edges in G. For positive integer k, iterated Lk(G) recursively Lk(G)=L(Lk−1(G)). In this paper shall consider fifteen well-known parameters study their behaviour when operation taking iterated. We first show that all these unbounded, is, P=P(G) such parameter on any then P(Lk(G))→∞ k→∞. This idea unboundedness motivated old result van Rooij Wilf says number unbounded only prolific. Following preliminary result, main thrust will value k(P,F), index family graphs with regards given P(G). P(G), ind(P,G)=min{r:P(G)<P(Lr(G)}. Now for F graphs, k(P,F)=max{ind(P,G):G∈F}, k(P,F) smallest k every G∈F, ind(P,G)≤k(P,F). problem determining over classical Chartrand who showed it could require k=|V(G)|−3 iterations guarantee has hamiltonian cycle. twelve considered, exactly determine where some also characterize class realizing extremal k(P,F). example, matching μ, at most 4 sharp, namely k(μ,F)=4 further those ind(μ,G)=4. Interesting open problems remain, particular completing determination three parameters: independence number, independent domination obtain partial results.

Wiener index in iterated line graphs
For a graph G, denote by L i (G) its i-iterated line graph and denote by W (G) its Wiener index. We prove that the function W (L i (G)) is convex in variable i. Moreover, this function is strictly convex if G is different from a path, a claw K 1,3 and a cycle. As an application we prove that W (L i (T)) = W (T) for every i ≥ 3 if T is a tree in which no leaf is adjacent to a vertex of degree 2,...
متن کاملD-Spectrum and D-Energy of Complements of Iterated Line Graphs of Regular Graphs
The D-eigenvalues {µ1,…,µp} of a graph G are the eigenvalues of its distance matrix D and form its D-spectrum. The D-energy, ED(G) of G is given by ED (G) =∑i=1p |µi|. Two non cospectral graphs with respect to D are said to be D-equi energetic if they have the same D-energy. In this paper we show that if G is an r-regular graph on p vertices with 2r ≤ p - 1, then the complements of iterated lin...
متن کاملWiener index of iterated line graphs of trees homeomorphic to
Let G be a graph. Denote by L(G) its i-iterated line graph and denote by W (G) its Wiener index. Dobrynin, Entringer and Gutman stated the following problem: Does there exist a non-trivial tree T and i ≥ 3 such that W (L(T )) = W (T )? In a series of five papers we solve this problem. In a previous paper we proved that W (L(T )) > W (T ) for every tree T that is not homeomorphic to a path, claw...
متن کاملPlanarity of iterated line graphs
The line index of a graph G is the smallest k such that the kth iterated line graph of G is nonplanar. We show that the line index of a graph is either infinite or it is at most 4. Moreover, we give a full characterization of all graphs with respect to their line index. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
متن کاملConnectivity of iterated line graphs
Let k ≥ 0 be an integer and L(G) be k-th iterated line graph. Niepel, Knor, and Šolteś proved that if G is a 4-connected graph, then κ(L(G)) ≥ 4δ(G) − 6. We prove that the connectivity of G can be relaxed. It is proved that if G is an essentially 4-edge-connected and 3-connected graph, then κ(L(G)) ≥ 4δ(G) − 6. Similar bounds are obtained for essentially 4-edge-connected and 2-connected (1-conn...
